Merlin Holland is Oscar Wilde’s only grandson. He is a journalist and the author of ‘The Wilde Album’ and ‘Irish Peacock and Scarlet’ both also published by Fourth Estate.

Merlin Holland, son of Vyvyan Holland, is the only grandson of Oscar Wilde. After Wilde’s conviction, his wife, Constance, and their sons were forced to change their name to Holland after being refused accommodation at a Swiss hotel. The family has never reverted to the name Wilde. For the last twenty years Merlin has been researching his grandfather’s life and works, and now lectures and broadcasts regularly on Wilde. He has published two books with Fourth Estate, The Wilde Album (1997) and The Complete Letters of Oscar Wilde (2000) He is a journalist and lives in London with his wife and son.
