Dylan Thomas

Dylan Marlais Thomas was born in Swansea in 1914. Following a brief spell as a junior reporter on the ‘South Wales Evening Post’, he moved to London where he rapidly established himself as one of the finest poets of his generation. His first collection, ‘Eighteen Poems’, appeared in 1934 and was followed by four more volumes. Thomas also wrote short stories, film-scripts, and the celebrated radio play ‘Under Milk Wood’.

In 1953, shortly after his thirty-ninth birthday, he died suddenly in New York. He is buried in Laugharne, Wales.
